Our aim was to achieve 4 objectives: - reinforcing students and teachers’ digital competence learning to use appropriately the known digital tools and learning to use new ones; the proper use of technologies provides students a chance for enrichment, comprehension and respect to other ways of life. - fostering respect towards other cultures and arousing curiosity for social, cultural and historic heritage, not only their own but also from other cultures. Each country has its own culture and life habits that have been known and respected, accepting that all of them are part of our own European identity -developing basic social skills for the inclusion of immigrant students. Our school has a high rate of immigrant students and the fact that our students have been able to put themselves in the position of their immigrant mates, has improved their social skills to accept and work on hand by hand with them, apart from realizing how that inclusion is achieved in other European schools. - using technologies to care the environment, learning to control the school waste, giving measures to reduce them.
Hiponova high school is a school for At-Risk Students placed in a rural area, in Montefrio, which holds students from diverse neighbouring towns, as it is the only high school in the area. Most students come from families who live in the countryside so that their economic level is low. Consequently, the environment and its care are extremely important for our students, whose main source of income derives from the olive tree and the asparagus. Besides, we have a high number of immigrant students and gypsy students, with tendency to school dropout. As a result, inclusion is one of our priorities as well as respect to their own and other cultures. Due to the limited means of our students, only a few have the opportunity to widen their horizons forward the own town, or at most forward the city. Thus, our project Erasmus+ has provided them a unique opportunity to know other European high schools. The scene of our high school requires our teachers to update to use motivating and active methodologies, which give rise to cooperative work so as to foster inclusion and respect, making use of technologies to get it.
