Through the project we sought to encourage to our students to become responsible and committed citizens, thus developing their civic and critical spirit. It was also intended to promote the linguistic skills of the participants: French (project language), English and other national/regional languages (communication languages). Likewise, improve technological skills: work with ICT (board diary, surveys, presentations, short videos...). Another objective was to develop the social and intercultural skills of the participants through group work with an open mind to different cultures and ways of life. We armed to develop the civic and organizational skills of students so that they are able to lead reasoned and organized debates, become an informed and responsible consumer (and producers),and to provide them with the foods necessary , get involved in European projects or local associations to create links between the school and the outside world. And finally methodological and technical skills were fostered to conduct surveys and interviews and use their results to, buy food and cook according to certain criteria, to learn the basics of gardening and to grow your own garden..
The centre is located in a town in the interior of the Valencian region where the economic engine has always been the textile industry. A severe crisis was caused by the closure of many textile companies and the unemployment rate skyrocketed. From 628 students, 84 are of foreign origin (14 nationalities). A part of them participates in our European projects. Our project is based on three key aspects. Firstly, the theme of the project is based on the HEALTHY SEAL and is held by the centre. The issue of food is at the center of the key issues and challenges for our societies and the environment in the 21st century. This topic allows us to address various concerns such as health, sustainable development, the environment, food production and, of course, gastronomy. Secondly, students who take French as a second foreign language usually have fewer opportunities to put that language into practice. The project offers them the possibility of putting their linguistic skills into practice in real contexts. Thirdly, the aim is to promote the use of ICT among students given their low level of technological competence.
