Objectives

After conducting a SWOT analysis of the school, the Erasmus Team along with the Management Team and the rest of the faculty decided that with this project named 'GREEN MINDS, GREAT MINDS,' we aimed to achieve the following three primary objectives: 1- Create a Sustainable Development and Energy Savings Plan (SDESP) within our school. The eco-plan for our school as part of our overall school plan. 2- Internationalize our school by opening doors to Europe. Foster international cooperation among our entire educational community. 3- Train our project team on Ecology and ECO schools in a way that benefits our own training and has a positive impact on our students, families, and educational community. By executing the project, we aimed, on one hand, to achieve ecological actions that all members of the educational community would practice and adopt as part of their daily routines. Additionally, our aspiration to open our doors to the Erasmus world and to connect with other schools through student mobility across Europe is being realized through the three projects currently underway. Finally, we aimed to create our own school Erasmus plan.

Background

Our center, the Sagrado Corazón Maristas School in Alicante, is a school located in the town of Alicante, comprised of students in different stages: preschool (3-5 years), primary school (6-12 years), secondary school (12-16 years), and high school (16-18 years). These totals of 1652 students, along with over 100 teaching and support staff. We consider ourselves a center that embraces new, active, and innovative methodologies where students actively participate in their own learning process. We engage in activities where involvement is essential, especially in preschool and primary school. We hold workshops with grandparents of the children in the center, and we also organize sessions where parents come to the school to assist with ongoing projects. Our strong focus lies in carrying out actions that promote environmental care. Through projects like Erasmus and others currently underway, we believe our role is pivotal in this aspect. As a 21st-century school enthusiastic about the development of this global project, we aim to reduce our ecological footprint collectively.
