Objectives

With the execution and launch of this project, we aim to achieve four objectives: 1.- Improve communication skills in English related to oral comprehension and expression (listening and speaking). 2.- Instill in students measures focused on respecting biodiversity. 3.- Commit the educational community to combat climate change and its effects. 4.- Encourage the participation of rural areas to continue with the internationalization of the center.

Background

The IES "Antonio de Nebrija" is located in Zalamea de la Serena, a town of about 3,500 inhabitants, in an eminently agricultural and livestock environment, and with a worrying unemployment rate: the data obtained in the External evaluation carried out in the 2017/2018 academic year places the center in a low-medium social context. It welcomes approximately 300 students from Zalamea itself, Esparragosa de la Serena, Puerto Hurraco, Malpartida de la Serena, Higuera de la Serena and Retamal de Llerena. It teaches the four courses of Compulsory Secondary Education (with their respective Curricular Diversification programs), Baccalaureate in its modalities of Sciences, Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences. Likewise, a basic degree training cycle of Vocational Training in "Commercial Activities" is offered. In this context, we propose a project that, in addition to improving communicative competence in English, raises students' awareness of the importance of the progressive implementation of a green and circular economy, seeks to care for the environment and raises society's awareness of the importance of have a protected environment.
