Objectives

We wanted to create a greater awareness of citizenship, to guide our students to a new scenario with different cultures, different ways of thinking and living, to make our students with fewer opportunities feel protagonists in the educational community they belong to.Therefore, we conceived four main objectives: 1- To foster common values in the educational community working on inclusivity and respect for religious, cultural and linguistic diversity to raise awareness of the importance of social transformation. 2- To raise awareness of how important modern digital technologies and services are for social development and global communication by putting them into practice to incorporate collaborative skills. 3- To make students conscious of the importance of local collaboration to combat climate change by acting locally. 4- To facilitate the construction of individual identity and enhance interpersonal relationships by taking into account democratic issues to strengthen coexistence.

Background

Ours is a public school covering Compulsory Secondary Education and High School. Located in Azpeitia, Gipuzkoa. We offer two modalities, Humanities and Social Sciences and Science. As a legally binding project, The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union should be a reference for every single European. Among the personal freedoms and rights guaranteed by this agreement, we are focused on the following: non-discrimination based on any ground (Article 21); the freedom of the Arts and Sciences (Article 13); the respect for the cultural, religious and linguistic diversity (Article 22); a high level of environmental protection in the EU policies (Article 37), and articles 34 and 35, which endorse measures to achieve a more inclusive society. We believe it is necessary to open the classroom door and connect education with life beyond school, following the interests of students: the digital world, audiovisual fiction, with other known/unknown cultural references. Cinema is, therefore, a powerful tool to inject our students with the enthusiasm of transforming society bearing in mind a diversity of cultural, educational and moral values.
