The objectives of this project have been three: - Prevent "digital obesity", avoid diseases associated with it, and make students take advantage of all the potential that technology and nature can bring to their personal development. - Encourage young people to achieve physical and mental health, along with an integrated and competent learning of curricular knowledge, through adventure activities in the natural environment. - Raise awareness among new generations of the importance of caring for and preserving nature and the search for sustainable and conscious development. These three objectives have been satisfactorily achieved. Students have managed to make a balanced use of new technologies, valuing the importance of preserving the environment and of taking care of their body from the physical and mental point of view.
IES Anaga is one of the reference schools in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It promotes multilingual competence in English and French through the CLIL Programme (Content and Language Integrated Learning) involving several subjects, with the main focus on the multidisciplinary project based on outdoor learning "Shaping nature" (hiking routes where curricular content is learned). Nowadays, students live in a digital world with excessive hours of screen time due to their high volume of work and their lifestyles. Daniel Sieberg, has coined the term "Digital Obesity", which refers to the excessive use of new technologies, which generates dependence and overweight, decreases social and family relationships, with the appearance of isolation, anxiety, and musculoskeletal and/or cardiac alterations. Our students suffer from this dependence so this Erasmus+ project aims to show how to have a correct balance between the new era and "Digital Obesity". To achieve this balance, outdoor learning is used, mixing physical activity in nature and curricular content, guiding the new generations in this correct balance from the physical and mental point of view.
