For the pupils, three key project objectives were identified which were to be achieved by holding an international film festival at the school in collaboration with the other participating schools. The first objective involved increasing the future employability of the students by equipping them with professional and artistic knowledge and skills derived from learning and creating audio-visual products to be shown at the film festival. Secondly, the aim was to improve academic results in different areas, highlighting the competences of comprehension and production in a foreign language, through communication in English among the participants as a tool for the organisation and production of the collaborative audio-visual product. Thirdly, the aim was to develop European awareness beyond the academic sphere at the level of the educational community. At the teaching staff level, and intending to create and consolidate an Erasmus+ driving team, the aim was to improve the communicative competence in the English language and in the acquisition of knowledge linked to the audiovisual sector in order to support the students benefiting from the project activities.
Our center is a state-owned high school of secondary education classified as of maximum complexity located in the neighborhood of Pla d'en Boet in Mataró, characterized by 50% of students affected by socioeconomic problems. Despite this situation, the center is a reference in terms of the digital technology present in the classrooms, the participation in European projects, cross-curricular education and project-based learning, the high commitment of the teaching staff with the center's educational project and the students and the existence of the Performing Arts Baccalaureate, quite demanded because this modality is only offered in two high schools of the Maresme region. At present there are 4 lines of CSE and 3 of baccalaureate: about 65 teachers watching over the learning process of approximately 600 students. Among the fundamental values that identify us, it is worth highlighting the respect for multiculturalism, inclusion as the will to achieve a quality education for all regardless of their origins or personal conditions and coeducation or comprehensive education of students without discrimination based on sex, overcoming traditional roles and providing students with examples of diversity.
