Objectives

- To improve the linguistic competence in English of our students through experiential learning. It is considered interesting that our young people can live an experience in an English-speaking country together with teenagers of a similar age in a playful context where they have to interact with each other. This type of experience is meaningful and helpful in acquiring fluency in a foreign language. - To reinforce the European dimension of our students by promoting knowledge about the common European heritage. These experiences are of great value and will serve not only to broaden their cultural background but also to better face their future life on a professional and personal level. Living an experience, discovering new places, interacting with people of the same age but from different countries, with a common European heritage but also with cultural and social differences will be a more than ideal way to promote FLORIDA students' knowledge of the common European heritage.

Background

FLORIDA CENTRE DE FORMACIÓ, COOP.V. is a worker cooperative located in Catarroja - Valencia (Spain), with almost 50 years of experience in the education sector. It has more than 250 workers and 4,000 students, and offers different educational levels under two brands: FLORIDA UNIVERSITÀRIA for Higher Education, and FLORIDA SECUNDARIA for Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate (http://www.floridasecundaria.es). FLORIDA SECUNDARIA is a state-subsidised educational centre which offers from 1st to 4th year of ESO (Secondary Education), with three subsidised lines, and two courses of baccalaureate, with a total of around 600 students between the ages of 12 and 18. Since its creation, the centre has served a school population characterised by its diversity, derived from its origin as a VET centre and initial attention to migrants with a high rate of social uprooting and a low socio-economic and cultural level. In recent years, a school population of medium socio-cultural level has been incorporated, but there is still a high degree of diversity. It has extensive experience in student exchanges and Erasmus+ projects, but this was the first KA122 project.
