Objectives

The project has strengthened a space for cooperation and integration as a contribution to the overall development of vocational training in the sector and the improvement of the key competencies of the students and the training and employment personnel involved. The objectives have been:  To improve the FLC's training offer and attract young talent both to the classrooms and to the sector in general.  Improve the personal and professional development of mobility participants.  To boost the competitiveness and employability of mobility participants.  To reinforce the technical knowledge of FLC students about the Building and Civil Works sector.  To learn and assimilate the present and future needs of the construction sector from the experiences of other European countries.

Background

The current situation of lack of trained professionals is strongly affecting the socioeconomic situation in Spain, and especially the construction sector, which has seen its levels of activity and employment fall drastically in previous periods of recession, but previous levels are not recovering. This scenario sets the need to establish new actions to respond strategically, anticipating the formulation of renewed and adequate responses to current and future challenges. Thus, it is necessary to bet on quality vocational training, adapting the training offer to sectorial trends and to the strategic objectives defined at the European level, through the development of new itineraries and the application of new teaching-learning methodologies. According to a study on the impact of Erasmus+ carried out by the European Commission, European participants in vocational training who have completed an Erasmus+ mobility experience find jobs more easily than the rest of the group and, in addition, have a higher employability rate (81% vs. 68%), three years after the end of their stay.
