Objectives

The main goal we are pursuing is to improve the training and resources of teachers and thus the education of our Vocational Education and Training students. Thus, we plan to provide training to teachers to train them in the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) simulation applications and their use. The idea is to enable them to apply this knowledge by creating simulation learning situations. With this, they will overcome the lack of equipment commonly present in educational centres and, at the same time, they will facilitate learning through digital content in situations where it is not possible to attend classes or to complement the face-to-face training received. In addition, we seek to improve teachers' oral communication skills in English, as these are necessary for daily practice in the bilingual modules taught at our school. This effort will not only contribute to the quality of teaching, but will also favour the internationalisation of education in our school.

Background

Globalisation of education is considered a fundamental part of our strategy. We are currently working on an internationalisation plan in the hope of obtaining Erasmus+ accreditation in the near future. In the short term, we face challenges in the training of our students and their employability, such as lack of facilities or physical absence. To address this, we are considering the use of virtual placements as a viable alternative. In this context, our project focuses on training teachers in Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies, as well as simulation, so that they can apply these tools in their VET teaching. The teacher training aims to provide teachers with skills in this field, while the internships will allow them to study closely the implementation of these technologies in experienced VET institutions. In addition, these placements will serve to establish connections and contacts that will facilitate the realisation of more ambitious projects in this area, while at the same time helping to improve the level of English. Ultimately, our goal is to improve the school's training.
