Objectives

The objectives we set ourselves in the project were: 1. Reduce youth unemployment, since one of the strong points of job candidates is the previous experience in the position they are applying for. 2. Improve foreign language skills which are essential in the environment where the centre is located. 3. Improve professional, personal and social skills which are developed throughout their academic training. Teamwork, ability to adapt to the media, good communication with colleagues and team spirit. 4. Adapt our educational offer to what is really demanded in companies. To facilitate the incorporation of students into the labour market. 5. Promote interest in continuous learning among students, thus trying to reduce school dropout rate. 6. Improve digital skills of teachers of Vocational Training. 7. Reduce inequality, giving opportunities to students with more difficulty accessing this type of mobility.

Background

IES Antonio Gala is a public centre where Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate (A Levels) and Training Cycles of Administrative Management, Administration and Finance, electrical and automatic installations, electromechanics of motor vehicles and Basic Vocational Training for Carpentry assistants and Gardening and floral compositions are taught. The centre has also participated in projects such as “Escuela Espacio de Paz”, “Co- education”, “Innicia”, “Aula de Cine”, “Biblioteca”, “Plan de igualdad” among others, most of which are now part of the CIMA project. The students’ profile is diverse. Those who belong to the gardening or carpentry FPB cycle are 15 - 18 years old students and they are usually from Alhaurín el Grande, our town. This kind of student usually comes from unstructured families and their insecurity within their families is usually transferred to their studies. In other cases, we find families with few resources who have not been able to afford or support their children’s education. On the other hand, in the 3 middle-grade vocational trainings, we have students from 16 to 46 years old, with different concerns and previous training.
