Objectives

The Universidad Europea de Canarias is firmly committed to the internationalization of its academic community. The participation in the Erasmus KA131 program had the following objectives: - Enhancing student mobility: Student mobility is always a crucial aspect of academic development, but it is even more significant for our university, located in an ultraperipheral region. Additionally, following the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mobility opportunities, which continued to affect the Erasmus 2021 project, one of the main goals of this program was to significantly increase mobility levels. In this regard, it was essential to improve upon the results of the previous project and to encourage mobility in fields where traditionally fewer mobilities occur, such as health sciences and architecture. To achieve this, it was crucial to strengthen collaboration with faculties and establish strong study agreements to facilitate these opportunities. - Promoting staff mobility: Facilitating staff participation in international programs allows them to enrich their pedagogical approaches, expand their collaboration networks, and engage in research projects with European institutions. The lack of recorded mobility in the 2021 project highlighted the importance of advancing this area. To address this, we worked more closely with the human resources department and the academic director to ensure greater promotion and facilitation of these opportunities for staff. Additionally, personalized meetings with faculty were implemented to guide them through the mobility application process and to inform them of available opportunities, which significantly contributed to increasing staff participation in international programs. - Strengthening institutional internationalization: The Universidad Europea de Canarias aims to consolidate its relationships with other universities and educational organizations, which will enhance our collaboration networks in various academic and research areas and continue to expand our inter-institutional agreements. As part of this process, we reviewed existing agreements and directly consulted students to identify destinations of greatest interest. This allowed us to focus our efforts on establishing new agreements or increasing placements in the most sought-after destinations, better aligning our offerings with the expectations and needs of our student community. - Fostering cooperation and the exchange of best practices: Collaborating with other European universities, sharing experiences, and developing new educational approaches through participation in fairs, conferences, and joint activities. Additionally, hosting international faculty at our university further enriches our academic environment, allowing our students and faculty to benefit from diverse pedagogical and methodological perspectives. This exchange of knowledge strengthens the teaching-learning process at our institution and fosters a more robust international cooperation network. - Aligning the university with European values: Through this project, we reinforce our commitment to the values of the Erasmus program, such as inclusion, diversity, and equality of opportunities. Moreover, promoting mobility and intercultural dialogue helps students and faculty become more engaged and aware of their role in a global context.
