Objectives

Our high school is a school for Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training at basic, intermediate and higher level located in a village in the interior of the province of Castelló with around 2,000 inhabitants, and it gets students from other municipalities in the region with a smaller population. It is a rural area with signs of ageing and where there are few opportunities for trips for students and staff to develop their academic, cultural and personal skills. For this reason, since 2014, our organisation has been committed to carrying out Etwinning projects and Erasmus+ mobilities in order to motivate students and staff to broaden their knowledge about other European countries and establish contact networks with schools similar to ours. On the other hand, it is also intended to disseminate among the school community and the population in general, a vision of Europe as a symbol of opportunities both in the labour field and in personal development. By achieving these objectives, we promote a more complete education and prepare the educative community to face the challenges of an interconnected world. Before applying for the grants, we talk to students and teaching staff in order to foresee the number of grants we need to request more accurately. Thus, for the 2022 call, we decided to apply for 2 mobility grants for staff training. The objectives of the staff mobility have been: to get to know the organisation of the Portuguese educative system and, in particular, of vocational training; to compare the teaching programmes of vocational training; to visit the school and observe the learning methodologies in the classroom (collaborative learning, project-based learning, flipped classroom, interdisciplinary projects, eTwinning projects, inclusion, family participation); to study the possibility of planning exchanges and carrying out collaborative projects between students and teachers from both schools; and finally, to approach the Portuguese labour market to learn about its needs and facilitate the access of our future students to internships in Portuguese companies. Thus, teacher mobility through the Erasmus programme not only makes a significant contribution to teachers' professional development, but also has a transformative impact on students. By improving the quality of teaching with new methodologies, enriching classroom culture and fostering collaborative projects with schools in other countries, teachers offer their students not only a higher quality education, but also valuable connections to the international world. This investment in teacher mobility is therefore an investment in the future of students, preparing them to take advantage of the opportunities of an increasingly globalised and competitive labour market.
