Objectives

The collaboration project "Building Networks in Makeni" between CEU San Pablo University (USPCEU) and the University of Makeni (UNIMAK), in place since 2009, is part of USPCEU’s internationalization and development cooperation strategy, aligned with the policy of Spanish universities. Its strategic objectives are to promote University Development Cooperation (CUD), raise awareness within the university community about global inequality, and foster a sense of shared responsibility. The approach is structured around three pillars: Solidarity, to reduce imbalances between countries; University, by promoting education, applied research, and partnerships with institutions in developing countries; and Synergies, by strengthening coordination among faculties, the Volunteering Office, and the Vice-Rectorate, as well as participation in national and international networks. The cooperation is supported by a multidisciplinary group of professors, students, and external volunteers. In recent years, the CEU-UNIMAK Seedbeds initiative has been consolidated, strengthening inter-university relations and supporting UNIMAK students facing financial difficulties through tuition reductions linked to specific projects.
