The specific objectives we have achieved have been: To effectively exchange methodological and practical experiences between AMAFE and Club House Itaca Roma through the links created throughout the project. We have developed a manual of good practices where we have collected the results of the experiences shared in the focus groups and study visits with the aim of reflecting and innovating on practices and attitudes in relation to the promotion of autonomy and independent living of adults with a mental health problem. Through a final dissemination event, as well as through the different channels and avenues available to the entities, we have been able to share the results which in turn promote inclusion, equality and non-discrimination. All objectives have been closely linked to the priorities that were selected at the time of application. The results obtained help to improve professional skills, inclusion and accessibility of adults with a mental health problem. Similarly, this project has provided a methodological growth in both associations that will be reflected in their daily practice.
The motivation to carry out the MAP project arose from the lack of response to many of the real needs of people with mental health problems, such as in the field of employment or housing. In most cases, it is the family or people close to them who support people with a mental health problem by living with them until they are unable to maintain their care activities. With this project, we have created spaces for reflection that have made it possible to change the stigmatising and overprotective dynamics that limit the lives of people living with a mental health problem, preventing them from being full citizens. We believe that the reflections proposed in the handbook, as well as the good practices shared, will help to create a more cost-effective and sustainable model that enables people with a mental health problem to live independently, as well as reducing the costs of institutionalisation. Thanks to funding from Erasmus+ we have been able to approach this reality present in both AMAFE and Club House Itaca Roma, bring together different stakeholders and address the same issue from different perspectives, allowing us to obtain results from different perspectives.
