Enhance Digital Literacy: Equip adult learners with essential digital competencies, enabling them to navigate and utilize digital tools effectively in both personal and professional contexts. This would improve their employability and ability to participate fully in the digital economy. Empower Educators: Provide educators with advanced training in digital teaching tools and methodologies. This would enable them to integrate technology into their teaching practices more effectively, leading to improved educational outcomes for adult learners. Foster Collaboration: Strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and the digital industry. By doing so, we aimed to ensure that the training provided was relevant and up-to-date with industry standards, thereby maximizing its impact. Promote Lifelong Learning: Encourage a culture of continuous learning among adult learners and educators by developing a sustainable model for digital skills training that could be adopted and adapted by educational institutions across Europe.
We applied for the "Digital SkillsUp" project in response to the critical need to address the digital skills gap among adult learners and educators across Europe. The rapid digital transformation in various sectors has highlighted a significant deficiency in digital literacy, particularly among adults who are either entering the workforce or seeking to enhance their employability. This gap poses a considerable challenge, as it limits individuals' ability to participate fully in the digital economy, access essential services, and engage in lifelong learning. Moreover, educators themselves often lack the necessary digital competencies to effectively integrate technology into their teaching practices, which further exacerbates the issue. The need to upskill both adult learners and educators was evident, especially in light of the increasing reliance on digital tools and platforms in education and the workplace. The four institutions involved in this project are dedicated to adult education, and based on our extensive experience in this field, we identified a clear necessity for a specialized training module.
