Objectives

Main Objective: Create a network of educational centers and associations that fosters and promotes the importance of agricultural ecosystem quality and its preservation by working collaboratively within their own reality. Strategic Priority: Seek allies, such as environmental education or interpretation centers, to establish collaborations within the framework of nature conservation. Specific Objectives: - Promote awareness of the biodiversity associated to agricultural ecosystems, environmental challenges, and the dissemination of conservation and restoration measures. Agricultural environments face threats such as climate change, land-use changes, pollution, overexploitation, and landscape simplification, among others. - Encourage participation from rural areas. - Develop and share free educational tools and resources to support the training of teachers and educators. - Facilitate learning and exchange of experiences between communities from different regions, fostering intergenerational collaboration. - Enhance the skills of educators, trainers, and teachers working in lifelong education for adults and society as a whole.

Background

This project has allowed us to address topics that are often "forgotten" or deemed unprofitable. How many young people are surprised when we talk to them about the origins of consumer products, like nuggets or cereals? How many people know what a Great bustard, a Stone-curlew, or a Little bustard is? These are spectacular steppe species, at risk of disappearing quietly. This project has focused on raising awareness about agro-steppe environments, which are integral to many rural communities. The objectives of "Docendo Discimus" began to take shape from this foundation, based on the idea that "We Learn by Teaching." This approach requires the active involvement of teams, through: - Collaborative efforts, creating resources and learning opportunities while sharing results across intergenerational groups. - A local and rural perspective, with actions promoting sustainability and environmental conservation within our nearby surroundings. - Understanding the value of ecosystem quality and implementing sustainable initiatives that can be replicated in different rural areas. - Establishing a lasting network that extends beyond the scope of the project. - Prioritizing the learning needs of participats as a starting point for action.
