By implementing the project, we aimed to achieve several goals focused on environmental education and sustainable practices. We wanted to educate students about climate change, recycling, and energy and water conservation while increasing awareness of sustainable consumption and environmental protection within local communities. Encouraging active student participation in learning, we sought to engage parents and communities in climate action and raise awareness about environmental pollution, a common European issue. We aimed to enrich the curriculum by integrating new web tools and enhancing digital competences, communication, and critical thinking skills. Creating resources like the Teacher's Climate Guide, eco-calendars, e-books, and exhibitions of recycled materials, we focused on fostering awareness of limited energy resources and the importance of water. The project encouraged students to appreciate biodiversity and become responsible citizens by engaging in activities like gardening, creating animal shelters, and using Web 2.0 tools to express environmental concerns, thus motivating them to protect nature and support sustainable development.
We applied for this project to address critical environmental and educational needs in our school and community. The primary need was to raise awareness and educate students about climate change, environmental protection, and sustainable practices. We aimed to involve students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in a transnational partnership, fostering collaboration, empathy, and shared responsibility for our planet. Our project addressed the urgent need for environmental education by providing lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities led by experts. Students gained deeper insights into topics like recycling, energy and water conservation, and the importance of biodiversity. By engaging students in outdoor activities such as community gardening, environmental clean-ups, and caring for animals, we cultivated a love for nature and a sense of stewardship. We also created a Teacher's Climate Guide to help subject teachers incorporate climate change education into their curriculum. Additionally, our project met the need to enhance digital competence and communication skills. By utilizing Web 2.0 tools and creating digital content, students and teachers improved their ICT skills, creativity, and teamwork.
