Objectives

To promote changes in consumption in our communities, promoting the circular economy to take care of our planet (7R model). These actions are based on SDG 12. We wanted our students to understand the advantages of this new economy in the context of green jobs. Our students need green industry initiatives, and their motivation should be more than just getting a good job, stakeholder perspective. Education for Sustainable Development’ (ESD) promotes the development of the knowledge, skills, understanding, values and actions needed to create a sustainable world, within environmental, social, cultural and economic systems and their interdependence. Therefore, we believe that this project would fit easily into the curricula and professions of the near future. With eTwinning, students also improved their linguistic and digital competence. Moreover, by working together, discussing and exchanging ideas virtually and in presence on SDG 12, students were able to develop their critical thinking and awareness, as well as their global citizenship competences, such as the ability to work and cooperate in teams in a multicultural environment.

Background

The reason for requesting this project was to work with students in the context of the UN SDGs, specifically SDG 12 ‘responsible production and consumption’, focusing on three main areas: energy, water and cosmetics. The project focused on civic education with a global perspective within the international social, political, economic and environmental context of the 2030 Agenda. For this reason, this project was aligned with the curricula, as well as developing science topics linked to subjects that are present in the partner schools. The partners in this project had already worked together before and we thought it would be good for all of us to continue collaborating in this line of work. This partnership was formed as a combination of two successful projects. We had been in contact with the Italian partner since the previous Erasmus project called ‘Water Footprint and Literacy’ 2021-1-ES01-KA220-SCH000034477. Turkey had already launched an eTwinning project, related to the project (ID 123890) and the project approach was made from a stakeholder perspective to raise awareness in the whole community of the importance of consuming less aggressively.
