The aim of Digi-Skills SEN was to support education professionals in effectively using digital tools to meet the needs of students with special or diverse educational profiles. The project aimed to enhance these professionals’ digital competence, confidence and autonomy through a flexible, self-paced training approach grounded in real classroom practice, while also fostering their professional development. Beyond providing tools, the project encouraged a shift in how digital resources are perceived and used in inclusive education and SEN settings. It also strengthened the capacity of partner organisations to produce accessible content, develop innovative practices and collaborate at the European level. The outcomes were designed to be adaptable, practical, and sustainable beyond the project’s duration.
Digi-Skills SEN was developed to respond to a shared need across partner countries: many education professionals working with students with special or diverse learning needs lacked the digital skills, tools and confidence to integrate technology into inclusive teaching. Digital tools were underused in inclusive contexts, despite their clear potential to support learning and participation. The COVID-19 pandemic further exposed these gaps, as professionals struggled to adapt to remote or blended learning, especially in inclusive settings. This highlighted the urgency of equipping educators with digital competences tailored to their classroom realities. The project addressed these challenges by offering accessible, practice-based training through digital tools designed to support everyday teaching. It also helped raise awareness in schools and institutions about the importance of digital inclusion in modern education, particularly in the SEN field.
