O1 Foster behavioural change in in terms of ecological practices at the individual level. This was achieved through hands-on activities, i.e., students participated in designing and implementing environmental action plans that included recycling programmes, water conservation, reducing energy consumption at school. O2 Support professional development of school teachers in project implementation. The project provided training sessions on monitoring and evaluation tools, helping teachers assess the effectiveness of environmental projects. O3 Improve the social participation of students and teachers. Through participatory workshops and the establishment of Environmental Committees, students contributed ideas for sustainability projects, which were then implemented at school, fostering critical thinking and encouraging democratic engagement in environmental decision-making. O4 Introduce alternative pedagogies related to environmental education. Teachers were trained in using innovative teaching methods that promote environmental awareness, such as using nature-based learning experiences and integrating sustainability into various subjects. These pedagogies were applied in the execution of the school's Environmental Action Plans.
Partners applied for this project to address critical educational and environmental challenges aligned with the EU's climate action priorities and European Green Deal. The project targets the need for behavioural change in schools to mitigate climate change by empowering students and staff with the tools and knowledge to take actionable steps. Key needs identified include a lack of expertise in managing, monitoring, and evaluating environmental projects within schools. Many teachers and school staff face challenges in integrating sustainability initiatives into curricula and assessing their impact, leading to reduced motivation and limited long-term implementation. Students often feel disconnected from climate action, with little understanding of how their individual or collective actions can contribute to change. This project bridges gaps by providing staff with training materials to foster behavioural change and tools for effective monitoring and evaluation. It introduces pilot environmental projects, addressing areas like mobility, food consumption, and energy use. The initiative further aims to engage students actively in the design and implementation of school-based policies, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility
