Objectives

DigiFreeLancer's main objective was to strengthen the freelance segment by creating a virtual incubator that serves as a reference for training and business development, with a focus on improving their digital and entrepreneurial skills. This project aimed to provide freelancers with the necessary tools to manage their businesses efficiently, reducing their “mortality” rate and improving their working conditions. The specific objectives of the project have been: - Reduce the “mortality” rate of freelancers, promoting stability in self-employment and reducing dependence on income support policies. - Improve income opportunities for freelancers through training in entrepreneurial and digital skills. - Encourage new ventures in the digital age by helping freelancers adapt to technological changes and the changing labor market. - Combat the shadow economy, favoring more stable and well-paid jobs instead of undeclared work. - Promote a work-life balance by supporting freelance work.

Background

This project aimed to address the growing importance of the freelance economy, which has experienced a peak in recent years, driven by new technologies and social changes. Despite this growth, freelancers still face numerous challenges, such as a high tax burden, lack of social protection, problems with remuneration and work loneliness. According to the I-WIRE survey, only 50% of freelancers work continuously, and 23.4% have gross annual incomes of less than €10,000, demonstrating the economic difficulties they face. Despite this increase in the number of freelancers, adequate support and training has not grown at the same pace. DigiFreeLancer's proposal responded to these needs by offering training in business and digital skills, key for freelancers to overcome these barriers and improve their job prospects. This project has improved the working and economic conditions of freelancers, aligning with the EU's strategic objectives of improving employability and job stability in Europe.
