Objectives

Monument to y Moment was a youth exchange program under the Erasmus+ program that took place in a rural hostel in Cartaya, Huelva, on the Atlantic coast of Spain. The project involved 30 participants from five countries: Spain, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Italy, and Romania. The main motivation for organizing the project arose from an extensive research on the emotional effects of the repeated and harsh COVID-19 lockdowns on young people. Based on the results, a specific target group was identified, and immediate action was taken to propose a project to mitigate the negative effects on the emotional health of young people. Ceramics and clay were the main tools used in the project due to their numerous benefits and their ability to stimulate the senses and deep concentration ("Flow"), along with meditations and therapeutic dynamics based on integral humanistic therapy, Gestalt, and bioenergetics. The combination that we call Tantaterra's Therapeutic Eco-Ceramics is a powerful process of emotional education and development. The main objectives of the project were to increase the emotional resilience of the participants, provide comprehensive and long-lasting emotional education, provide young people with practical knowledge in the art of ceramics, and create an individual sculpture that three-dimensionally represents the emotional resilience and recognized strengths of the participants. In the European context, several key competencies of the Youthpass certificate were worked on, and sustainable and ecological thinking and decision-making were promoted, introducing the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda and the Youth Goals of the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027. Regarding the results, all the main objectives of the project were successfully achieved, generating the impact that was initially sought. The young people returned to their countries very happy and equipped with new skills and abilities, prepared to generate an impact in their immediate environments using what they learned. Monument to my Moment was an enriching and transformative experience for all the participants involved.
