Objectives

In the context of the European Year of the Youth, and following the urgent need of increasing the rates of disadvantaged youth involvement and participation in Europe, the YPA General Assembly in October 2021 from which we are national members, focused on the development of potential projects and synergies aimed to increase the specific involvement of NEET youngsters into the local, national, and European policy debate. Although our national peers organizations were aware of the Erasmus+ program and the European Youth Strategy, they reported a need for a better explanation of its new priorities, rules, and procedures, since they recognized a lack of knowledge and experience to transfer locally the benefits and applications of these policies. Hence, this project was born out of the need to develop a training that would equip youth workers on the Erasmus+ program and the EU youth strategies, while at the same time provide them the needed skills to successfully write a KA3 project. Consequently, the main objectives of the training were: - To support youth workers in identifying the right Erasmus+ action & tools which they can use for better inclusion of NEET in decision-making processes. - To increase youth workers’ practical knowledge of applying and managing KA3 projects, and improving their understanding of European values (such as equality and inclusion). - To increase the quality of youth work by equipping youth workers with better knowledge, skills, and competencies to develop & implement quality transnational projects for the inclusion of NEETs into the policy field. More concretely, the specific objectives of the project were: - To better understand the new Erasmus+ program 2021-2027 - To foster debate around topics centered on the themes and priorities set under the EU Youth Strategy, in particular with regards to the Youth Goals and its dialogue mechanisms and youth green positive impact. - To increase youth workers’ awareness of the specific needs of NEETs. - To introduce youth workers to innovative non-formal methodologies and working methods to engage NEETs in policy-making discussions. - To equip youth workers with the knowledge and skills to write successful inclusive and ecological KA3 projects to increase NEETs political engagement and participation in policy-making. - To foster a stronger sense of partnerships between participating organizations and increasing their ability to operate transnationally and in cooperation with international partners for better engagement of European youngsters into EU decision-making processes. Throughout the project, the participating youth workers have been equipped and trained to write a successful KA3 project and increase their capabilities and motivation to foster debate around topics centered on the EU Youth Strategy and the Erasmus+ program 2021-2027. This is expected to improve not only the quality of work of the participating youth workers and their organizations but also recognition of youth work and non-formal methodologies, and awareness of NEETs when targeting the inclusion of youth into the policy field.
