Objectives

The training course was based on the ongoing need of a higher youth participation in (European) democratic life. We aimed to foster a sense of citizenship and to fight towards policy processes that are more transparent and accountable towards young people. By involving young people in more decision making processes, debates and negotiations we believe can have a positive impact on their self-confidence, on developing a sense of initiative, work on their soft skills such as communication, team work, leadership, negotiation and most importantly encouraging them to co-create their future. Following the EU Strategy 2019-2027 that fosters youth participation in democratic life and supports civic engagement and focusing that all the young people have the necessary resources to take part in the society, we have designed this training course focusing on all the above. With the project we want to encourage organizations to promote youth participation in local activities such as creation of podcasts, as a way of developing skills and abilities that can not be developed in the field of formal education. It represents an easy tool that everyone can use without any discrimination and improve the knowledge of ICT. The training course for youth workers is aimed towards supporting them in developing competences in youth work. The main idea of the TC is to eventually develop an integrated and adaptable methodology (approach and tools) for using radio in making the voices of young people heard. Following the training, the participants will have the chance to apply their newly gained skills in their communities at local and national level. With the project we want to encourage youth entrepreneurship in the field of radio/podcast productions and help organizations and their youth workers to connect with young people, inspire them to create material and to share their message. Technical knowledge learnt in this training course can enable and empower the participants to a more autonomous, creative and independent work, as we want to show that with the free online tools available to everyone, one can create their own proper radio show and produce content. Starting from the context in which we find ourselves, we have analyzed some of the needs that we share along with the partners; - need for a higher participation rate of young people in civic and democratic life; - a more attractive, digitized and innovative approach when working with young people; - methodologies and tools favoring greater youth participation and inclusion of people with fewer opportunities (for example: radio is a great tool that can be implemented in rural areas and can connect people from all over the world, just by connecting through internet, it can be adapted to economic situation of the person as you can produce a podcast with an expensive equipment but also with just a regular phone or computer; it is a great way to include people with disabilities and to share their voice etc.) - need for a transnational network that allows the exchange of good practices. Through a series of informal, non formal and formal activities, we plan to reach the project’s objectives: - to learn how the podcast production works in all the phases; - to learn how to do basic design for the branding of the podcast; - to learn and find ways how to implement new digital skills and tools in the youth work; - to promote participation of young people; - to promote participation of under-represented groups of young people in politics and youth organizations; - to improve soft skills such as team work, team leadership, communication skills; - to build transnational bridges that allow for educational exchange; - to encourage the development of skills linked to social entrepreneurship among young people; - dissemination of the learning opportunities offered by the EU-funded program.
