Objectives

The main objective was to guarantee equal opportunities for our young people, social inclusion, promoting appropriate legislation, policies and measures in this regard. And even more, by also working with young people, minors, with judicial measures, at risk of social exclusion. The project has been inspired by values such as Equality, Inclusion, and Diversity, which permeate its objectives. The Canarian Youth Foundation Ideo has endorsed the primary objective of the 2030 Agenda, the guarantee that "no one is left behind". Currently, there are 1.2 billion young people aged 15 to 24, 16% of the world's population. By 2030, the deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is estimated that the number of young people will have increased by 7%, reaching almost 1.3 billion. The Sustainable Development Goals are intended for all nations, all peoples of all ages and all societies. The universal nature of the 2030 Agenda means that young people must be considered in all Goals and targets. Young people are recognized as agents of change, charged with exploiting their own potential and ensuring a world fit for future generations. Young people in all countries are both an important human resource for development and critical agents of social change, economic development and technological innovation. Their imagination, ideals, energy and vision are essential for the continued development of the societies of which they are a part. It is therefore essential that new impetus be given to the design and implementation of policies and programmes for young people at all levels. The ways in which youth challenges and opportunities are addressed in policies will influence current social and economic conditions and the well-being and livelihoods of generations to come. The Foundation echoed the need continuously expressed by the young people with whom it works and for whom it works, it wanted to carry out this project hand in hand with the young people who participated in it, and to be able to publicize the opinion that our youth has about the youth policies that are being carried out in matters such as Equal opportunities, the good use of technologies and sport as a social adaptation. I also wanted to bet on digital literacy, that our youth develop digital skills, and that they can improve the use they make of instrumental technology, in particular information and communication technology. Although in our country there is legal equality, where men and women are equal and have the same rights before the law, we see that it is not a real equality, since discrimination against women and girls in multiple areas is a reality. In addition, one in three young people do not identify control behaviors with gender-based violence. Therefore, prevention at an early age helps to identify the first signs of violence. The Foundation has also wanted to instill in the young people with whom it works, the importance of health, and sport more specifically, as a process of adaptation of young people at risk of exclusion, and also strengthen the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including drug abuse and harmful use of alcohol. Another objective of this project was to create spaces for participation for young people, where there was debate, to know their opinions, needs and concerns, spaces where they could freely express their position, their proposals, etc., together with the people responsible for political decision-making, promoting dialogue between both parties, to promote collaboration and coordination of all policies that have to do with young people in a manner consistent with the vision, mission and values of youth policies. These participatory meetings had a double purpose, since, on the one hand, spaces for dialogue were created, where young people and decision-makers met at the local and regional levels, contributing to dialogue in order to make policies come together hand in hand. And, on the other hand, it was possible to give visibility to the topics discussed in the Project and disseminate them, and also to be able to have first-hand material to work in workshops, etc., with young people.
