The main aim of this project, is to offer an experience to discover and to foster personal development to young people with intellectual disabilities and/or fewer opportunities due to different causes, through accompanying and guiding for informal learning on a trip to a different country, guaranteeing their safety during the whole process. Hence the main components were: the selection of the participants, their safety and the preparation for learning. We seek to contribute to the Youth Goals, connecting young people with Europe, particularly those living in rural areas and with fewer opportunities. This project offers the opportunity to work autonomy and self-determination of people in risk of social exclusion situations, such as: people living with disabilities, facing social barriers, economic difficulties, cultural discrimination… To this end, our aim was to bring the opportunity to travel to a neighboring country, meet its culture and foster our values of social inclusion and sustainability. We fostered stablishing new relations and collaborations with local entities and contributed to young people self-steem and self-determination.
