The objectives that AIFED has set for this project are directly related to the project activities and all of them are aimed at improving the knowledge of the COMPASS manual for youth work and the creation of a methodology suitable for institutions, developing technologies and practical activities. In particular, it is intended to train and strengthen the skills of youth workers in human rights education with young people through the COMPASS manual, to foster joint learning between associations and increase their skills in educating young people at risk of exclusion in a non-formal education context, to lead youth workers to educate through their mind, body and emotions, to transmit and promote Human Rights Education, to contribute to the education and inclusion of young people at risk of inclusion, making them aware of their rights for the construction of a more egalitarian and solidary society, to provide youth workers and associations with a real experience through the realization of Human Rights Education activities with young people, and to elaborate a guide, written in English, for youth workers.
AIFED decided to apply for this project for different reasons. First of all, to make the COMPASS Manual known to the different project members and to anyone working with the partner associations. Second, to train and strengthen the skills of youth workers in human rights education with youth at risk of exclusion through the use of this Manual, to promote joint learning among the associations, and to make youth workers engage in education through the mind, body, and emotions. This is summed up in the final result, which was the development of a useful and easy-to-apply synthesis for youth workers that brings together the practices and working tools of the COMPASS manual. Needs addressed in the project application include training and capacity building for youth workers, particularly in the area of human rights education, a specific focus on youth at risk of exclusion, use of the COMPASS manual throughout the development of the project, promotion of shared learning among associations, and development of practical tools.
