The primary objective of the "GamEUfying" project was to enhance youth participation in democratic life by equipping them with a deeper understanding of European Union institutions and decision-making processes. By implementing this project, we aimed to achieve the following: 1. Increase Youth Engagement: Foster active participation among young people in political and social processes, especially those who are typically underrepresented, by providing accessible educational tools. 2. Promote Social Inclusion: Ensure that young people from diverse backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities, are included in discussions and decisions that impact their lives. 3. Empower Educators: Equip youth workers and educators with innovative, gamification-based methodologies to effectively teach and engage youth in learning about the EU. 4. Strengthen European Identity: Encourage young people to develop a stronger European identity by understanding the significance of the EU and their role within it. 5. Create Sustainable Impact: Develop tools and resources that can be used beyond the project’s lifespan, ensuring long-term benefits for youth engagement across Europe.
The "GamEUfying" project was initiated to address critical gaps in youth engagement with European political processes, particularly among those with fewer opportunities. The 6th Cycle of Structured Dialogue and the EU Youth Strategy 2021-2027 emphasize the urgent need for increased youth participation in decision-making. The project responds by developing gamification-based tools to educate young people on EU institutions and decision-making processes, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, which heightened their sense of exclusion. By empowering youth workers and educators, the project promotes social inclusion and fosters a more informed and engaged young European citizenry.
