Objectives

The main goals of our project were to diversify and develop teaching to be even more accessible, to develop the digital skills and language skills of teachers and learners, and to increase the internationality of the school. We wanted to give teachers the opportunity to develop online and hybrid teaching, so that the accessibility of our school's teaching would improve and we would get more students from different parts of Finland. Our goal was for our teachers to develop into digital experts who know how to innovatively utilize various digital platforms and social media applications in teaching, so that they can give students versatile digital skills and language skills for future graduate studies and working life. Our goal was also to increase the internationality of our school and make our courses even more attractive, as well as offer especially immigrant students opportunities to participate in international projects and language pair activities.

Background

Savonlinna adult high school offers versatile education for adults. At our school, you can study the upper secondary school curriculum, take a matriculation exam or study elementary school studies. At our school, you can also study individual subjects or courses, for example languages, as a subject student. In addition to basic and high school studies, we also organize TUVA studies in our adult high school, i.e. studies that prepare for a degree. Our school also specializes in teaching immigrants, and in the Erasmus project we wanted to give immigrants in particular the opportunity to develop their language and digital skills. One of the key strategies of Savonlinna Adult High School is to develop distance education so that students from all over Finland could participate in the education we offer. In the project, we wanted to gain more experience in distance education as well. In addition, we wanted to improve the attractiveness of our language offerings by increasing international cooperation and offering our students the opportunity to participate in international projects.
