Objectives

By participating in the project, we wanted to learn emotional management, resilience, holistic well-being and taking care of one's own well-being, as well as learn to understand one's own strengths and use different methods for stress management and recovery from work. Resilience can be described as strengths that we can use to achieve balance in challenging situations. Through the practice of emotional management, positive thinking, internal speech regulation, and empathy and compassion, students learn to develop their own resilience and life management and aim to promote mental and physical well-being. These abilities benefit both the teacher and the students. Participants will hopefully be able to use feel-good skill badges in their work and learn innovative time-saving ways of working, fast but sustainable solutions to overload and long-term handicaps, and fresh ideas.

Background

Moisio School is a comprehensive school in Salo that provides education for grades 7-9. Our school has 28 classes. Moreover we have five classrooms for students who need special support in their studies. The school also operates two weighted teaching classes: music class and media class. The KA1 project "Feeling Good", which supports mental well-being, has been approved by both the principal of our school and the director of basic education in Salo. Mental well-being is the theme of the entire school administration of the City of Salo in the academic year 2022-2023. The "Feeling Good" project supported this common theme of the city of Salo very well. At Moisio School, phenomenon-based learning and multidisciplinary learning modules are implemented in the form of annual projects. The phenomenon chosen for the 2022-2023 school year was a topical topic, the well-being of the school community. The topic reared its head with Covid 19. The pandemic, which affected school communities and society as a whole, posed numerous challenges to studying. To a large extent, the challenges were related to increased stress, mental ill health and learning deficits during the pandemic.
