The vision of the University of Jyväskylä (JYU) is to be a global leader in the study of learning, wellbeing and basic natural phenomena, reshaping competence to build a sustainable society. Participation in the Erasmus+ Programme is of paramount importance for JYU in moving towards this vision and in achieving the institutional objectives defined in the JYU strategy for 2019-2030, where strengthening internationalisation is one of the crosscutting themes. KA131 projects are particularly closely linked to the aims of the strategic Education Development Programme. According to our Erasmus Policy Statement 2021-2027 JYU aims to: 1) develop and implement studies and curricula across disciplines and in dynamic cooperation with international partners, 2) provide education that supports students in building meaningful and future-oriented competence profiles, 3) offer all students diverse opportunities to include goal-oriented international study and internship periods abroad in their degrees, 4) produce added value to the regional, national and international cooperation partners, 5) support teachers’ continuous professional development through modular university pedagogy studies that include pedagogical, international and digital competences and 6) facilitate the integration of international staff and students into the university community. Furthermore, JYU has been a member of FORTHEM Alliance, one of European Universities supported by the EC, from September 2019 onwards and Erasmus+ staff and student mobility are crucial tools for creating and maintaining a transnational campus.
