Objectives

In response to the identified needs, the project aimed to enhance Crim’HALT's skills in the following areas: 1. Learning best practices for networking among stakeholders to create an anti-mafia culture, particularly through citizen awareness, and targeting a young adult audience, using effective, relevant, and professional communication. To achieve this, we established a partnership with the association NOI ("US"), which emerged in a municipality that denied the existence of the mafia. This association was founded by Federica Angeli, a journalist from Repubblica, Italy's largest daily newspaper. Effectively raising awareness among Social and Solidarity Economy actors about the importance of a culture against major crime in France so that confiscated assets can benefit a wide range of SSE structures, including smaller ones. Increasing Crim’HALT's visibility among the general public and public authorities to create synergies and connections with citizens through timely and accessible information.

Background

Thanks to Crim'HALT and Erasmus+ projects, the law on the Social Use of Confiscated Assets has become effective in France (implementation decree of November 3, 2021). In 2022, 5 confiscated assets were made available to associations or ethical land trusts. The association's staff had to enhance their skills in communication, awareness, and information methods to effectively reach the three target groups of their action (citizens, social and solidarity economy actors, and public authorities). The project aimed to address three needs: 1. The need to engage a broader audience, especially a younger one; 2. Making the USBC (Social Use of Confiscated Assets) system more accessible to social and solidarity economy actors and convincing them of the economic and social impact of this new law; 3. Identifying best practices and strengthening the staff's skills in existing institutional arguments/tools. The aim of Crim'Halt was to continue working within the framework of its second advocacy axis: the defense of innocent victims of organized crime. The association aims to involve victims in advocating for legal status and recognition from the press and public authorities.
