The KA122 project was designed to promote quality language learning, inclusion and eco-citizenship for students, as well as CLIL training and an opportunity for as many teachers as possible to play an active role in developing an international dimension to the new school. We also wanted to develop closer and new ties with other European schools with a view to increased international cooperation.
Sainte-Marie Lyon (SML) provides primary through to university-level education to 5,000 students. There are now five sites: four in Lyon and the other in La Verpillière, a small town to the east of Lyon. Two of the sites offer primary and middle school education, three of the sites high school education, and two sites run higher education courses. Although a private school, SML has an intake from a very wide range of socio-professional groups, including refugees from Syria, and fees, where applicable, are calculated on a means basis. This project would be offered to our new high school plant of general secondary education. It is located in Meyzieu, an eastern suburb of Lyon, where there is considerable economic depression. We are aiming for 30 students and we will include some from less privileged backgrounds: participation will be based on students' motivation to invest time and energy into the project, not on their school grades. This Erasmus+ project stems from our ethos.
