Objectives

The objectives for the students were: Encourage their involvement by adapting to their needs and meeting the challenges encountered. Develop curiosity, motivation and academic appetite via digital technology + concrete experiences. Allow them to appropriate their culture and their heritage via themes linked to Reunionese identity. Open them to diversity and otherness by promoting meetings and exchanges. Develop their autonomy and sense of initiative by making them responsible for carrying out projects. Contribute to their academic success and their social and professional integration by giving them confidence in their abilities and allowing them to acquire new ones. Fight against dropping out of school by remotivating them and giving them confidence. Promote their academic and personal success by giving them the opportunity to flourish and develop their potential. Strengthen the link between them, their culture and their environment. This project proves that educational innovation can contribute to student success by mobilizing them and making them want to learn through engaging projects and making them want to learn through motivating projects.

Background

The college combines an isolated location, a disadvantaged neighborhood, unemployment and distance from Europe. Thanks to 2 KA1, 2 KA2, the team fights against school dropouts, cultural deficits and failing families. Our students have social, financial and academic difficulties. They have difficulty concentrating and learning, resulting in a high rate of absenteeism supported by the family. Teachers diversify teaching to restore meaning to school, hence this European project which works: French expression, autonomy, citizenship, tolerance, desire to travel, knowledge of oneself and one's culture among our Creole students. This project is therefore a very effective way of making students work differently on basic and transversal skills, then towards more specific skills leading them towards studies no longer local but regional, national or international.
