Past European experiences have shown certain difficulties, accentuated by the COVID period, two of which are particular and which are the subject of this project: - For students, mastering English as a tool for communicating with their peers, especially in a virtual relationship. - For teachers, mastery and knowledge of collaborative digital tools in particular. The organization of virtual mobility was a highlight of this digital dependency. The intended impact is, in the desire to continue its international openness and lead other collaborative projects in the future, a better ability of the school to face these two difficulties. This project was intended to begin that commitment. Three objectives were therefore originally defined: During the 2022/2023 school year, - set up 3 CLIL approaches integrated into the timetable of CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2 pupils. - integrate into the CE1 class the sensible use of four collaborative digital tools that can be used by the students. - carry out a European Etwinning project by the CE1 class and with the occasional intervention of the other pupils of the school.
The project is carried out within the framework of a rural primary school with four classes of around one hundred students, ranging from CE1 to CM2. Since 2107, the school has been committed to opening up Europe by carrying out Etwinning projects (international cuisine, games from here – games from elsewhere, etc.) or Erasmus + collaboration projects (Feel the four seasons beyond the walls – On the Wings of Legends). The impact of these projects was visible for the pupils (better knowledge of Europe, development of their relationship to a foreign language, motivation to share with pupils from other countries, carrying out projects), as well as for the teachers (rise in skills, cultural discoveries, intellectual openness) or even school (relationships with families, image conveyed). They were a godsend for this small rural school to open up to Europe, while learning to know ourselves better. This project was a continuation of past activities and is intended to be a new dynamic after all the difficulties encountered with the COVID crisis.
