As the school Head and in collaboration with the teachers, we elaborated an Erasmus project aiming to improve our linguistic skills in English with a view to integrating CLIL (EMILE) into our teaching practices. Initially in the experimental stages, the use of CLIL is becoming more widespread throughout the territory, however its implementation requires both skills in the subject taught but also confidence in ones ability to transmit those skills in a foreign language. The aim of our Erasmus project was thus to consolidate and improve our linguistic skills in English in order to design and teach CLIL lessons in our classes.
The project was put in place given the need for professional training expressed by the teaching team in light of the cultural and geographical particularities of our school. Indeed, our school is at a distance from continental Europe on a national level as well as being locally situated in a rural district far from the main administrative and cultural centers of Reunion Island. It is thus a priority of our school to offer our students an opening on the world.
