Objectives

Several objectives were targeted at the learners : - To encourage learners to become more independent and organised - To become more tolerant and open-minded through exposure to a different culture - Choose the career path that best suits them - Create cohesion and mutual support within the class group. We had noticed that a lot of students were leaving the painting and finish course between 1st and 3rd year of the course, with only 13 students left for 24 places. After the A-Level, few students choose to continue their studies or enter the job market in this sector. The aim of our project was therefore to enhance the career paths of all the students in this year's intake by providing them with an outstanding personal and professional experience and opening up their prospects without changing their career path. For our organisation, this first Erasmus+ experience was also intended to give impetus to Erasmus+ mobility in the short and medium term by showing that a project can be successful if you work as a team. For the staff, it was expected to increase their skills in international project management.

Background

This is the first time that a European mobility for an entire class has been organised at the vocational high school Freyssinet and it marks the start of a new strategy to open up our students and staff to international opportunities. The project concerns the vocational A-Level for initial training in painting and finishing. It involves a 2-week mobility programme as part of the compulsory work placements required to obtain the diploma. 13 final-year students and 4 supervisors went on a mobility trip to Barcelona in November 2022. The students were on trainings in companies and in host families. The Erasmus+ referent teacher steered the organisation of this mobility in collaboration with the main teacher in charge of the project and the teaching and administrative teams, and a new working group was set up for this project. Other partners helped with the organisation : Espamob' for setting up the project locally (placement in a company, in a host family, organisation of transport, some visits and follow-up in the company) and Rouillard travel agency for the link between the departure and arrival towns.
