International openness is an integral part of the Université Catholique de Lille's project. Developing a network in the Balkans has been a priority since 2017. Initiated thanks to the Erasmus+ programme with Serbian universities and the University of Sarajevo, cooperation has been extended in 2019 to International University of Sarajevo and International Burch University. Following these very encouraging results, we wanted to continue the existing partnerships and extend the network to two Albanian universities, Epoka and UNIZKM. Hosting students and staff from Bosnia and Albania on a highly international campus in a region at the heart of Europe is an eye-opening experience, while the French students have the opportunity to discover the political and economic context of these two EU candidate countries. All the partners share the desire to build solid partnerships. For the universities, it was a question of supporting the digital transition and developing digital skills and education through an exchange of best practice in educational innovation. The ecological transition was another challenge included in the project.
