Objectives

This project had several objectives: 1/to strengthen the presence of Bordeaux Montaigne University in sub-Saharan Africa by developing collaborations, particularly in geography and information-communication, two disciplines that have historically been favoured thanks to the involvement of teacher-researchers. This dynamic, supported by the institution and by national and European policies promoting partnerships with Africa, aimed to improve understanding of the context and needs of partners, to further structure projects and to expand collaborations to other areas of development. 2/We wanted to diversify our partnerships with Eastern European countries, which are increasingly marked by a strong Russian presence and with which most of our agreements were established. With this in mind, we chose Georgia, with which we had not previously collaborated, despite some contacts established in the past, as well as Ukraine, in partnership with two universities, continuing on from a previous particularly successful MIC project in the field of English-language studies. N.B. The project was submitted prior to the Russian invasion of the country.
