Objectives

The title of the project ("From cliff to cliff: a new path for Europe") sheds light on the aims pursued: the project was designed to ensure, firstly, that it would be followed up (so that those involved would not stop there) and, secondly, that it would reach a wider audience (so that others would also see it as a source of inspiration, or even a reference). Indeed, guided by the two principles of the European motto ("United in diversity") and based on selected themes (inclusiveness, innovation and ecology), this project aimed to highlight the natural and cultural heritage of the Marches and Normandy (while respecting their different cultural characteristics), and in so doing, to develop in pupils a European awareness based on a rich and open identity. This partnership not only affirms the desire to move away from any form of standardisation, but also, and above all, to open up a "new path": a path leading from cliff to cliff, and thus inscribing the Marches and Normandy in a common European destiny - always to be explored and reopened. In short, the aim of this open path was to inspire this vocation in the students, and in others.

Background

This project is the reworking of a twinning project started by Myriam Morvan and Sylvie Bartoloni, during Myriam Morvan's first professional stay (at the Lycée J. d'Arc in Rouen) at the Lycée Leopardi in Macerata, where Sylvie Bartoloni teaches. Already involved in Erasmus Lycée in Erasmus programmes, Sylvie Bartoloni agreed to work on an Erasmus exchange project once Lycée J. d'Arc had also embarked on a European project. The financial, digital, administrative and thematic resources provided by this institution made it possible to develop a more ambitious project, with a group of at least twenty students on each side. The European aims of the project were given a framework for expression that was more appropriate to its intentions (more so than in the classic framework of a simple school trip); they also gained a guarantee of longevity.
