Our objectives at the start of the project were as follows: - Improve participants' language skills and intercultural knowledge - Increase awareness among schools, companies and towns of different ways of working towards ecologically sustainable solutions - Improve teachers' knowledge of an educational system and teaching methods different from their own - Improve participants' environmental skills and knowledge - Train our students, future citizens, to make complex choices that involve sustainable development in their personal lives and in the society in which they live - Enable all pupils, regardless of their social background, disability or educational difficulties, to benefit from European mobility. Not all young people have the means to travel, which is why we wanted to use this project to help open the doors to the outside world and give them the chance to develop their potential.
This project was born out of an eTwinning exchange between a class from the Lycée Rosa Parks in La Roche sur Yon and a class from the Lycée Roald Amundsen in Kolbotn near Oslo, Norway. The two teachers coordinating the project, Ms Carpentier, an English teacher at Rosa Parks, and Ms Lhote, a French teacher at Roald Amundsen, carried out projects and had their pupils work remotely for a year. The theme of the environment soon came up. The idea then emerged to set up a KA210 project to continue the exchange and alternate the phases of remote and face-to-face work. We identified several challenges that we wanted to meet: - The challenge of inclusion, because all students should be able to benefit from mobility in Europe. - The environmental challenge, because we felt it was necessary to talk about this subject on a wider scale than that of our respective classes. - The digital challenge, because digital skills are a real added value in our pupils' future job search. - Language challenge, because it is important to show that language learning is more than just a school subject. See the list of our challenges in the appendix.
