The primary goal of our participation was to allow our students to discover their own culture and learn from others in order to realize that as Europeans, we share common values and heritage while also broadening the possibilities for their future. We also wanted to help them gain self confidence outside of their familiar environment and engage in exchanges in a foreign language to help them develop curiosity about others.
On the basis of the observation that the majority of students in our rural school have limited cultural opportunities and are geographically isolated, access to culture is one of the key aspects of our school project. Another key aspect is the desire to open up our school internationally and foster ambition among students, we sought opportunities and have decided to focus on Erasmus+ projects to address these identified needs. Moreover, participating in international projects allows hands on application of learning and using foreign languages while providing travel opportunities for disadvantaged students.
