Objectives

Coordinated by the IMT, the DECART project, which stands for Design of Higher Education Curriculum for Agility, Resilience and Transformation, is an international collaboration involving universities in France, Germany, Iceland, Indonesia, Lithuania, and South Africa, representing a wealth of knowledge and expertise. The project's ultimate goal was to equip training managers and other stakeholders in higher education (including students) with specific leadership skills to enhance their preparation, in dealing with uncertainty. The main objective was to enable partner universities, with transferability to all training organisations, to improve the agility of their activities. The collaborative tools and serious games known as CAFE, SUCRE and LAIT, skilfully blended like a cappuccino, increase the capacity to operate jointly within an educational institution or at a transnational level. The tools are developed with a systemic vision of the entity concerned, focusing on new practices for dealing with disruptions and crisis-related issues. They prepare the necessary curriculum reforms to deal with potential changes, with an emphasis on anticipating resilient solutions and transformation models.

Background

Tired of struggling to stay afloat amid the waves of unexpected events and storms in Higher Education? Be ready to keep your head above water with the DECART methods and tools! DECART provides ready-to-use tools to strengthen the agility and resilience of your curricula, with serious games to develop scenarios and prepare decisions for transformation, as leadership training methods to make your programmes stand out. Societal risks are multiplying: economic uncertainty, declining public funding, social and health instability, transnational unforeseen events, geopolitical and environmental crises, energy sovereignty challenges, generative AI and disinformation. The nature and scope of potential crises are constantly expanding and the future is uncertain. The European Union established additional educational objectives for 2030 to the ‘Education & Training 2020’ framework. The health crisis of 2020 and the current challenges facing Europe have necessitated a revision of these ambitions, with the resilience of the education system now a priority. Higher education must play a key role in societies and economies for them to be more sustainable and resilient. From 2025 onwards, the agility and resilience of curricula is essential.
