Objectives

We wanted to raise awareness among our students to recognize what bullying is, to increase the way we live well together in our schools, to reflect on the attitudes to have towards bullying, whether we are victims or witnesses. As bullying is a factor of malaise at school that can lead to school dropout, it seemed important to us to carry out actions to better understand this phenomenon in order to better fight against it and thus avoid school dropout or worse. Information and prevention are the best ways to fight against harassment. This involves young people who will be able to inform and warn other young people themselves. We also wanted to introduce our students to other cultures, to make them aware of the similarities and differences between young Europeans from different countries. Our wish has also been to strengthen our sense of belonging to Europe, to strengthen the feeling of European citizenship in order to make our young people mobile at the European level in their professional projects.

Background

This project was one of the components of the project of the Créteil academy: international opening. Indeed, the language teachers' team of Lycée Langevin-Wallon has encouraged projects with an international dimension in order to open up students, the vast majority of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds, to the world and to practice English in a concrete context by meeting young people of their age. The international opening began with eTwinning, it seemed natural to go on with Erasmus +. We also applied because the issue of bullying is a major problem that prevents some young people from thriving in school and leads to school dropout. Raising awareness of this phenomenon among students in order to better fight against it was a motivation for our school and the partner schools of this project. We are all confronted with situations of students who have dropped out of school, we all wanted to find tools to allow them to experience school better. Finally, this project also allows us to experiment with innovative and collaborative practices such as the creation of a "Stop Bullying" wall, acting out theater scenes, writing a song, for example.
