Objectives

Our goal was to transform mathematics learning into a more engaging and accessible experience for all students, especially those who struggle. By combining movement with mathematics learning, we aimed to: -Improve the performance of all students, reducing inequalities and promoting the success of each individual. -Increase students' motivation and self-confidence, particularly those who experience difficulties in mathematics. -Develop essential 21st-century skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity, while promoting inclusion and equity. -Create a positive learning environment where all students feel valued and capable of succeeding.

Background

Our motivation for applying for this project stemmed from our desire to provide innovative solutions to the persistent challenges faced in teaching mathematics and science. We observed that traditional methods often fail to motivate students and equip them with the necessary skills. Recent research, particularly from the University of Copenhagen, has highlighted the importance of the kinesthetic approach in enhancing mathematics learning. By combining movement and learning, we can make mathematical concepts more concrete and engaging for students. Our project addresses several needs identified through our various successful pilot projects: -Motivation and engagement of students (aged 6-9) -Accessibility for all -Real-world learning -Innovative pedagogical support -21st-century key skills By addressing these needs, our project aimed to improve the effectiveness of mathematics teaching and prepare students to meet the challenges of the modern world.
