Objectives

This youth exchange was part of our accreditation project, which aimed to maintain a solid partnership dynamic, reinforcing citizenship education by and for young people in a transnational context. The main objective is to enable young people to experience intercultural exchanges, and through these encounters to become part of international citizenship and strengthen their individual and collective commitments. These exchanges also aim to establish a reciprocal logic, where young people from different countries learn and exchange together, and to make intercultural encounters accessible to a wide range of youth profiles. Each youth exchange explores a particular theme in depth, to raise awareness of a global issue and strengthen the young people's ability to deal with it as a structure. By learning about education for citizenship and international solidarity (ECSI), and popular education, the aim is for participants to co-construct awareness-raising tools together. The objectives of these youth exchanges, and more broadly of the accreditation we have received, are fully in line with the global change desired by Engagé-e-s & Déterminé-e-s, namely the integration of international solidarity within society, by increasing young people's power to act on key issues. The objectives of this project are in line with those of the accreditation program, which are to : promote intercultural encounters and dialogue between young people develop awareness-raising tools by and for young people encourage young people to take action by building a common voice provide more equitable access to international mobility, and in particular to intercultural . E&D and its partners do this by organizing regular, long-term youth exchanges, with themes that evolve, but which are part of a continuum of encounters, development and re-employability of skills, awareness-raising and reinforcement of practices, for both young people and organizations. More specifically this year, the project was called "REgards Croisés et InTerculturels: appropriation et positionnements des jeunes face aux Objectifs du Développement Durable" (RECIT'ODD). In the midst of the last decade of the SDGs, and knowing that this is a theme that unites our organizations and echoes the realities of associations and young people, the aim was to explore the SDGs from a historical, critical and, above all, intercultural point of view. The aim of the exchange was not merely theoretical learning, but to encourage the young participants to reflect on and position themselves on an issue that concerns them. The focus on the SDGs was intended to enable us in greater depth how each country positions itself in relation to the SDGs, particularly in an intercultural context, to see the interplay of actors around the SDGs, their limits, the relationships of domination; but also to focus on certain SDGs (particularly in relation to the environment, gender, partnership...). The outcome of the project was the creation of ECSI tools, by and for young people, to raise awareness among their peers of the challenges of the SDGs. The aim was to empower young people, not only through increased knowledge, but also and above all through the acquisition of informal skills and intercultural know-how.
