Objectives

Environmental pollution caused by unconscious consumption choices has disturbed us a lot in recent years. In particular, we observed that the most important cause of pollution in our environment is plastic waste. Most of these are plastic water bottles, shopping bags, and plastic cups. Beyond giving individual responses to this situation, we must develop alternative solutions. The garbage we create in our houses negatively affects the lives of societies elsewhere in the world. There are 510 trillion microplastic particles in our seas. Each year 13 million tons of plastic waste go into our seas. The rate of recycled plastic waste reaches 30%. Among the European countries, the recycling rate of plastic packaging waste is 42%. Our partners recycled 50% in Spain, 26.9% in France, 50% in Sweden, and 54% in Turkey, on the other hand, Turkey is the country that imports the most plastic waste from Europe. Discussing the reasons for the highest and lowest rates in partner countries enabled us to understand the problem correctly and develop effective methods and techniques. In particular, Sweden, which has the highest rate of making plastic waste harmless, and France, with a low rate, guided us. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/en/web/products-eurostat-news/-/ddn-20210113-1 “The cost of the transition will be big, but the cost of non-action will be much bigger.” Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission As a result of the evaluations we made with our partners, we determined some activities that would adopt environmentally friendly practices to our lives instead of the way we consume plastic waste. So that's why we implemented this project with our partners. 1- In order to gain a European-scale perspective and develop solutions, we examined the data provided by the Oceans and the Law of the Sea, and the European Youth Strategy (Sustainable Green Europe). 2- We organized a plastic waste collection campaign on the beach to integrate with the people of Martinique and show our support to them. (La vauclin) 3- We designed a fish model from plastic waste to draw attention to the pollution that plastic waste creates in the oceans. 4- We created examples suitable for the conscious consumption model by carrying out appropriate activities with the 8R model. 5- We gained digital skills by converting documents that were prepared for the project activities like pictures, and brochures in the project activities into digital content such as videos, blogs, vlogs, Instagram stories, and posts as well as drone videos
