Objectives

In 2019 and 2020, we submitted a project called Transformative Cinema to Erasmus+, which was willing to support it. These projects were successful in many aspects. For all these reasons, we have repeated the Transformative Cinema project in 2022. This project proposed to the participants to engage in a reflection and a collective dynamic around a theme linking Cinema and Social Transformation. They exchanged ideas on the role of the image and of cinema in the transformation of our society. This project took place in a context where our societies and our ways of life are being continuously transformed and reinvented, even more so with the climate and social emergency, the Réseau d'Entraide Volontaire organised a youth exchange inviting the participants to question the role of images, and more particularly of Cinema, in these future transformations. We explored and questioned the liberating and transforming role of the image. A role that we feel is all the more important to explore in view of the urgent need to transform our societies in order to face up to modern challenges and the omnipresence of the image in these societies. How is cinema a tool for social transformation? How can we reflect on the impact of the image? With this question in mind, we proposed to the participants to get involved in a collective audiovisual production process. This project invited 20 international participants to collectively question the potential transformative role of Cinema. This questioning was accompanied by practice so that the participants could also experiment, learn together, and above all create together. With this project, a short film was made, with the theme "a cultural encounter leading to transformation". This project also allowed, through the making of the short film, a meeting and a dense and human exchange with the rural population of Pont de Montvert who were invited to participate in the creation of the short film.
