Objectives

There is no Planet B! The list of environmental concerns is endless. Climate change and environmental degradation are an existential threat to the entire world. According to scientists, decisive and immediate action is needed to contain the dramatic consequences of climate change. This view is widely shared by European youth, with 50% of them believing that fighting climate change and protecting the environment should be an absolute priority for the European Union. 92% of all young people in the EU aged 15-24 consider climate change to be a relatively serious problem, and 73% consider it to be a very serious problem. Across Europe, young people demonstrated for the climate as part of the "Fridays for Future" initiative. Climate change will impact young people much more than those who are currently deciding how to deal with it. The consequences of climate change reveal and reinforce inequalities, particularly for young people and especially young women. So it is important to give young people a voice and to take into account of their opinions, observations and ideas. But it must also be noted that only a certain part of young people are engaged in different causes, such as the fight against climate change and sustainable development. These are young people whose family environment is more privileged, whose parents have qualified jobs, young people who are in higher education or who have qualified jobs. Based on this observation, our exchange project was born: to bring together young people from Germany, France and Morocco with less privileged family backgrounds, to learn in a non-formal and informal way in an international environment, and to encourage participants to become more involved in civil society at local and/or regional level and to support them in this process. The main objective of this project was to empower a group of young people to act as actors of change for sustainable development, environmental protection and international cooperation. The project consisted of 3 phases of exchanges: an initial digital exchange(Nov 2021) and two physical exchanges in 2022, one in France (16/05 - 23/05/2022) and this exchange in Morocco. The sub-objectives of the 3rd phase are as follows: Continue the work started, implement mini-projects, mobilise young people to advocate for policies and decisions related to the environment and biodiversity at national and regional level. In addition to the objectives related to the theme, our project had the following objectives: - encourage the promotion of diversity and shared values; - create a participatory, intercultural and inter-linguistic setting; - deepen the knowledge about the 3 participating countries; - discuss and exchange on the daily lives of young people; - become aware of the cultural influences on their own thinking, behaviour and reactions; - question themselves and become aware that certain realities that are considered normal vary from country to country; - introduce participants to ways of engaging as citizens and encourage them to see themselves as full actors; - mobilise young people to advocate for policies and decisions at national and regional level; - improve the social and intercultural skills and the ability of participants to understand today's society; - increase the participants capacity for autonomy and sense of responsibility; - make mobility possible for all interested young people; - experiment with new communication strategies; - value all languages, discover and practice foreign languages through language animations; - document the exchange through creative materials to valorise the work and mobility experience of each participant.
